10 April 2008 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.3.4 released (minor release)
- Fixed:
- Improved compatibility when generating ebooks on Vista.
- ebookReader is now Vista compatible.
- ebookReader icons improved and redesigned.
- Default installation of TNP is now C:\GemX\TexNotesPro instead of "Program Files". This avoids problems in Vista and Windows security glitches.

17 September 2005 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.3 released (minor release)
- Fixed:
- Buffer overrun with some Chinese and Japanese text in editor.
- Better support for Unicode filenames when exporting content.
- Styles Repository: Ablility to edit first (normal text) style.
- Password window appearing behind splash graphic.
- Removed secondary TexNotesPro icon from Windows Task Manager and when pressing Alt+Tab.
- Spell check and thesaurus when more than one edit window is open.
- Display of newly imported files in a notebook (old version displayed as very small boxes).
- Filename of a secondary new editor window is now "untitled.tex".
- Layout retained when creating a new edit window.
- Collation in multi copy printing is disabled if printer doesn't support it.

- Improved HTML import with recognition of invalid tags.
- Export of HTML now produces lowercase tags.
- Included new TNReader.exe so ebook creation uses new format. New ebook reader has new Search tab and better recognition for custom icons in Navigator.
- Additions:
- Added Note Helper option: "Play Animated GIFs". Located in the menu "View/Note Editor Helpers". Plays GIF animations in the editor (animations take more processor power).
- New format options (main menu "Format/Special Text/Para Conversions/BiDirectional mode"):
Includes "left to right" or "right to left" for selected paragraph or text (usful for editing Hebrew and other Right to Left languages).
9th April 2005 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.2 released (minor release)
- Fixed:
- Error on pasting text with tabs.
- Fixed and improved quick search.
- "Search and Replace" fixes for Unicode.
- Minor internal memory management fixes so it uses less CPU usage.
- Annotation icons now appear in print or preview.
- Drawing Shape Connector Points no longer shown in Print or Preview if not shown on screen.
- Fixed horizontal scrollbar range with very wide notes or with very wide images.
- Improvements:
- Improved HTML export in line of viewing HTML with Mozilla browsers.
- Improved formatting display so the page display is now rendered faster for large documents (300+ pages).
- Print Preview enhanced with thumbnail display of pages.
- Styles in the style library tab can now be edited. A Text or Paragraph style can be modified from the list without affecting the document.
- "Check for Updates" now shows the date and version of the latest available build. Version numbers that go into multiple minor numbers eg:4.1.08
can be confusing and less informative.
- Improved pasting HTML when copied from certain web pages.
- History drop down buttons (Back/Forward) can show or hide the full path of the outline item name (makes it easier to visually locate the item).
- Additions:
- Added quick keyboard shortcuts:
Ctrl+Space = "Suggest Word"
Ctrl+6 = Invokes "Apply Text Style" list menu
Ctrl+7 = Invokes "Apply Paragraph Style" list menu
Ctrl+8 = "Apply Last Selected Text Style"
Ctrl+9 = "Apply Last Selected Paragraph"
Ctrl+0 (zero) = Invokes the special character and text functions
These greatly increase productivity when formatting text.
- Added "Auto Word Suggestion". When you type, TexNotesPro will remember what you've typed and will offer an appropriate word. Press Return to accept the word or just carry on typing.
This facility can be switched off from the "Edit" menu. A manual Word Suggestion can be obtained by pressing Ctrl+Space on a word or use the right click menu.
- Added "Backup Files" utility. This facility will take a folder then create a self-extracting zip file or a normal zip file of all the files in that folder.
The filename is incremental so you can use it for making regular backups. Restoration can be either using a zip application or launching the self-extracting
zip archive directly without the need for third party extractors.
- Added ability to save as TexNotes 3.6 format (File menu "Save as", use the File Type to select version 3.6), so you can save a file and load it in TexNotes v3.6. Useful if you have another computer that doesn't run XP.
However, you will lose additional features like annotations, embedded notes and drawings.
- Added "Custom Date" to header details and outline columns (used to be called "modified").
This date can be used for your own purposes, eg: Article To Be Completed by. (In future versions there will be more custom column fields added).
7th March 2005 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.1 released (minor release)

- Newly named notes name are not reflected on tabs - if you clear tabs and then open, it appears.

- Improved drawing selection. It was sometimes difficult to select a very thin line.

- TexNotes ebook reader UI has been updated in line of new GemX theme.
- "Paste as New Note" added to Navigator menu, Edit menu and System Tray menu.

- Export content to HTML has lowercased tag names instead of uppercase.
- Improved html image import linked to local files.
- Additions:
- User interface now uses the GemX Themed Interface (GTI).
This improves the speed of the interface and reduces resources.
The color theme can be switched easily to Windows style if you prefer a standard look,
or you can change the color to your own preferred color scheme without affecting other applications.
- New feature: Capture part of desktop screen and insert into current note. Access from the main toolbar or right click on system tray.
- New feature: Insert Macromedia Flash animation into Note Editor.
The Flash file is imported and stored in the note, so if you distribute an ebook with flash animations, you don't need to distribute the flash files.
Users will need the free Flash player to see the animations.
- Added a scrollable color bar for quick access to text and highlight colors for the notes editor.
- Ability to export a Drawing (uses a special drawing file format [tnd]).
- Ability to import a Drawing into existing drawing or as a new Outline item. You also can drag an image or TND file into an existing drawing.
- Note Editor Ruler measurements can be in pixels, points, cm, mm and inches. Right click on ruler to access properties.
- Added Options to remember or use a default quick graphic bullet.
- Styles in the list can be moved up or down so you can have often used styles towards the top of the list.
- Added a "Select All and Copy" to context menu.
- Added "Auto Copy on Select". When text is selected, it is automatically copied to the clipboard.
- Document Statistics - Word Count, Characters, Sentences and Word Analysis, Keywords and others. For all notes, current note or selected text.
- Readability - Generates approximate Gunning-Fog index, Lexical Density and Flesch-Kincaid readability scores to include grade level, words, sentences, and syllables.
- Added current filename to system tray icon tooltip.
- Show/hide anchors/page breaks/margin guides and special characters.
- Decimal To Roman and vice versa.
- Sort Lines - lines in given text are arranged alphabetically.
- Numbers to Text - translates actual numbers to their textual equivalents. Ex: 123 = "one hundred twenty three"
- Strip Trailing Spaces - truncates spaces from the end or start of lines.
- Condense Spaces - concurrent spaces are reduced to single spaces.
- Macros save/open.
- Macro advanced options include altering speed of playback.
- Added mouse events to Macro recording so keyboard and mouse events can be captured.
- Unused background area in painting can be changed.
- Nudge by keyboard for shape drawing (ie: Up, Down, Left, Right)
- Drawing creation tools (eg: Rectangle) now stay selected for instead of reverting back to the select tool.
- Added undo and redo to Drawing.
- Enclose Text With speech Quotes
- Add "Window" menu for controlling multiple TexNotes windows.
- Extra settings for opening new files in same window or new window.
- Extra settings added for automatic display of property tabs.
- Common phrase name edit so user can override auto-naming.
- Automatic jpg conversion of bitmaps pasted into note. This can be set in the settings.
- "Paste As" added dialog with preview so you can see what you're pasting with options to convert bitmaps to JPG or PNG.
- Navigator Outline auto-numbering. Shows an index number next to item name. Each level start at 1.
- Automatic download of images when pasting html. This greatly improves copy/paste from web pages into a note.
Use "Paste As", then choose HTML. This improves retention of the format and multiple copied web browser images.
- Ability to color the background of a single outline item. Allows for multi colored trees.
- Outline item sorting is now per item instead of global. You can have selective items automatically sort and some items not sorted.
- Paragraph borders, indents and margins have been merged into a single dialog for easier access to all parameters in one go.
- Automatic Tools tab activation. If you select a drawing the Draw tab becomes active, etc. This can be switched off in the settings.
- Add extra options to outline tree export - HTML with Frameset: This will create a frameset so when you export content as html then export outline tree, you end up
with a framed navigational result as a web page.
- Added "Insert content from other window" on right click of a note, if you have another window with a tex file open, you can insert note content from that window.
- Added back and forward buttons to ebook reader application.
30 November 2004 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.04 released (minor release)
Fixed:
- Index bounds message on startup.
Improvements:
- Improved Document Tab hints with extra information and image/drawing thumbnails.
- Hyperlink that are directed to an Outline item, now show as the proper title in the tooltip for faster recognition.
Additions:
- Startup Layout Chooser (can be switched off) - Ideal for starting with a simple view or an advanced set of toolbars.
- Added keyboard shortcuts:
Ctrl+G : Launch hyperlink (cursor must be on or inside a hyperlink)
- Hyperlink Launch settings: Ctrl+LeftClick, Single Click or Double Click.
- Customize options for Document Tabs: Position (top or bottom) / Hidden. Click on the dropdown arrow on the right of the document tabs to access menu.
Further options are in the Settings dialog window.
- Customize Outline command added to Outline toolbar for fast access to Outline visuals.
- Added "Set Default Outline Font" in Outline Display menu. All existing items can be assigned automatically after choosing a default font style.
- Confirmation options (can be switched off in the Settings) for launching URLs and Dialer.
- Added "Remove Entry" from Files lists.
- Added "Convert to Unicode" and "Convert from Unicode" in "Format/Special Text Conversions" menu. (This is only for Notes, other areas do not need this).
25 November 2004 - TexNotes Pro Version 4.03 released (minor release)
Fixed:
- Freehand Painting in a note no longer shows scrollbars if not needed.
- Icon commands disabled states are fixed.
- Fixed Opening and Creating new files.
- Fixed launching hyperlinks to files.
- Text extract in search now displays results.
Improvements:
- Changed Shape selection with using Shift instead of Ctrl.
- Notebook Cell Title can now be hidden.
- Background cell in notebook can be transparent.

- When keyboard macro is recording, a message is displayed in the main window caption bar.
Additions:
- undo/redo on painting (undo in Drawing will be in next update).
- Autohide toolbars. Removes some of the congestion of many toolbars that are not needed.
When Autohide is enabled, it will only show toolbars that are relevant to the document content being edited.
- Ability to show/hide ruler bar.
- Ability to show/hide document header panel.
- Outline item password protection.
