I purchased a full copy of TexNotes Pro X and received a registration number XXXX. When I received notification from you that X.X was ready I downloaded it and am using it now, but can find no way to insert the registration number...

I have already bought version 3.x of TexNotes, What is your upgrade pricing policy?

A: To upgrade from version 3.x to the latest version (4.3) for registered users costs $15 for a single licence.

You need your existing registration number of version 3.x. Go to the TexNotes Pro upgrade page, then type in the registration number in the field provided. When you click on the OK button, the page will show what each licence costs. You just need to click on the licence you want and follow the online purchase instructions.

I have already bought version 4.x of TexNotes. How do I get version 4.3?

A: You don't need to buy version 4.3 if you have already bought version 4.x. Updates are free to registered users of version 4.x. We send out emails to all registered users with details , so you should have received this email. If you didn't, then probably we don't have your latest email address. Just send us an email with your order details and registration number and we will send your email with download instructions again.

You don't need to go to the upgrade page. The upgrade page is only for version 1,2 or version 3 users.

How do I install TexNotes Pro after I've downloaded it?

A: To install TexNotes Pro 4.3, please follow the steps below:

Run Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved your downloaded TexNotes file to.

Double click on the application exe file named, texpro43.exe,

Follow the on screen instructions.

The installation program will create a folder according to your specification or will install to the default "Program files" folder. It will also create a program group in your Start menu, and place the application icon on your desktop so you can easily access TexNotes Pro.

Do I need to reboot my computer after installing TexNotes Pro?

A: You don't need to reboot your computer after installing TexNotes Pro. It doesn't require it.

Can I move the TexNotes Pro application folder, after installation, to a different location?

A: No, it is not a good idea to move any applications folder from it's installed place. If you move the TexNotes Pro folder manually then the "Add/Remove programs" list in your control panel is not updated.

How do I Uninstall TexNotes Pro?

A: To uninstall TexNotes Pro please follow the steps below:

Click on the START button on your Windows Taskbar.

Select the SETTINGS option.

Select the CONTROL PANEL.

When the control panel has opened, double click on Add/Remove Programs.

In the listing of programs that can be uninstalled, you will find an item in the listing for "TexNotes Pro". Select it.

Click on the Add/Remove button and follow the instructions on screen.

Do I need to reboot my computer after uninstalling TexNotes Pro?

A: You don't need to reboot your computer after uninstalling TexNotes Pro. It doesn't require it.

When I uninstall TexNotes Pro, what happens to my data file that I created with TexNotes Pro?

A: When you have completed the uninstall operation it will only uninstall the TexNotes Pro application. Any data files you created will be left intact for you to consider in case you may need to use them again. Data files contain your notes you have created. If you do not need them just locate the folder where you saved your TexNotes Pro files and delete them manually.

Does TexNotes Pro clean up the Registry after uninstalling?

A: Yes. You will find that TexNotes Pro will uninstall only the TexNotes Pro registry entries and will leave other entries intact.

Do I need to uninstall a previous version of TexNotes Pro before installing another?

A: We strongly advise you to first Uninstall any previous versions of TexNotes Pro before installing the latest version. By uninstalling TexNotes Pro the uninstall process doesn't remove any of your data files or tex files that were created by yourself. It only removes the application related data from the folder as well as the registry.

Will TexNotes Pro run on Windows XP?

A: Yes. We experienced no problems running on our test version of Windows XP Professional.

Will TexNotes Pro run on Linux?

A: No, not at the moment. It is a future thought.

Will TexNotes Pro run on Windows CE?

A: No, not at the moment. It is a future thought.

Will TexNotes Pro run on a Pocket PC or Palm Top?

A: No, not at the moment. It is a future thought.

Will TexNotes Pro run on Macintosh?

A: No, not at the moment.

Will TexNotes Pro run on BeOS?

A: No, not at the moment.

Exactly what operating system will TexNotes Pro run on?

A: TexNotes will run on Window 2000 and XP.

Can I open older TexNotes files in the latest version 4.3?

A: The registered version 4.3 can open any older versions. However, if you save the file under version 4.3 then you will not be able to open the tex file in any older versions of TexNotes.

Is TexNotes Pro network compatible?

A: You are able to open tex files from across a network, however, there's no file locking so make sure that the file is only open by one user at a time. If two users try to save the same file, then only the last user to save will be commited.

Can I run more than one copy of TexNotes Pro at the same time?

A: Yes. You can even drag and drop Notes and NoteBooks from one to another. Just make sure that the file you're editing isn't the same tex file in both running copies.

Does TexNotes Pro have any backup precautions to safe guard my data?

A: TexNotes Pro can automatically create a .bak file when you save. This bak file is just your tex file like it was just before you saved. When you need to reclaim your backup file, use File Explorer and rename the MYFILE.bak to MYFILE.tex, overwriting your tex file. TexNotes Pro, can also automatically save your tex files every x minutes.

Is TexNotes Pro compatible with Microsoft Word?

A: To some degree, yes. TexNotes Pro will try to understand as much of the formatting as possible, however, Word has many features so not everything can be converted. One tip is to rename the Word file as filename.RTF then try the import.

TexNotes Pro comes with an American dictionary, how can I obtain dictionaries for other languages?

A: TexNotes Pro comes with an American dictionary and Roget's Thesaurus. If you require further dictionaries, they can be downloaded freely from:

To install any extra dictionaries, you just need to copy the downloaded dictionary to the folder where you installed TexNotes Pro to: eg. "C:\Program Files\TexNotes Pro\Dictionaries".

What's the maximum amount of data that TexNotes Pro will hold?

A: It is practically unlimited. If you have the hard disk space, lot's of memory and a fast processor, then TexNotes Pro can hold millions of notes.

If I buy TexNotes Pro, what version upgrades do I get free?

A: If you buy version 4.x, then you will receive all version upgrades for version 4 free of charge. This means you get 4.x etc up to but not including 5.0.

I need a particular feature that TexNotes Pro doesn't have, can you include it?

A: If you need something but TexNotes Pro can't do it, then write in and let us know. If we can implement the idea and we think other users will also benefit, then it will be realized in a future update.

I purchased a full copy of TexNotes Pro X and received a registration number XXXX. When I received notification from you that X.X was ready I downloaded it and am using it now, but can find no way to insert the registration number...

A: When you receive an e-mail from us indicating there is a new update version, or when you purchase, we give you a link in the e-mail of where to download the software from. Use this link that is in the e-mail, don't download the trial version from the web site. If you use Outlook Express, just right click the link in the e-mail and choose "Save Target As...". The Trial version cannot be made into a full version. You have to download the update or the full version from the information in the e-mail, then install it as normal.
