Printing
TexNotes Pro provides all the usual Windows printing options in the File menu, plus a powerful Print Preview facility. Do remember that you also have the paper-saving option of eBook publishing.
Before actually committing your document to print, there are several things that are worth checking. This not only includes such obvious things such as the spelling, and making sure that all the layout and formatting is as you want, but also the slightly less obvious things. In particular, it's well worth exploring all the various TexNotes Pro printing-related options in the File menu.
You can, for example, view your document exactly as it will look when printed by using Print Preview.
Print, among other things, lets you print individual Notes, or even individual pictures if they are embedded in Outline.
The rest of this Note provides a detailed introduction to all the TexNotes Pro printing-related options.

Printer Settings |
Printer Settings
displays the standard Windows dialog box which allows you to choose a particular printer, and select the document Orientation, Paper size, and Properties for your print job.
It's always worth checking that the paper size is correct. In Europe, A4 size paper is normally used, while Letter is standard in the USA.

Print Page Setup |
Print Page Setup
is specific to TexNotes Pro and allows you to set a host of options.

You can choose whether or not to Print background image/color.
|
|
If printing with black ink on white paper, and your Notes have a colored background, it is normally best to select Do not print the background. The alternative option can produce very attractive results in conjunction with a good-quality color printer. |
|
Document Pages allows you to choose to print every Note (or other Outline item) on a separate page, or continuously. The following options are available to act as a separator.
|
|
|
You can also select to add a Header and/or Footer to every page of your printed document.
|
|
In the Headers and Footers, you are not restricted to using just these variables since you can also type in brief lines of text. You can see exactly what the result will be in the Sample part of the dialog box. You can also see what your printed document looks like before committing it to paper by using Print Preview.
You can also use Page Breaks, and the Text Flow setting in Paragraph Settings and Borders from the Format menu, to fine-tune the page formatting of particular paragraphs and Notes.

Print Preview |
Just like eBook publishing, Print Preview is a great tree-saver! ![]()

It's important to understand that exactly what is previewed is what is currently selected (highlighted) in Navigator Outline. |
|
When a Notebook is selected in Outline:
Preview Selected Does nothing.
Preview Same Level Displays (prints in preview window) almost, but not quite, the complete document. Items above the Notebook in the Outline hierarchy (usually very few) are omitted. In the case of this Rough Guide, for example, when the NoteBook Customizing is selected, the only items left out are Disclaimer and the very first page.
Preview All Displays the complete document.
When a Note is selected in Outline:
Preview Selected Displays the complete Note.
Preview Same Level Displays all Notes in the current Notebook, but not Sub Notes.
Preview All Displays everything in current Notebook.
Other Outline items, such as Sub Notebooks and Sub Notes, follow the same pattern as Notes.
Remember that items above the selection in the Outline hierarchy are not previewed.
The current settings selected in Print Page Setup are used for the Preview.
When you have made your Preview choice and processing has completed, a window like this is displayed:

Notice that the current choices in Print Page Setup, including the Header and Footer are faithfully reproduced in the Print Preview window.
The toolbar effectively provides quick access to all the most-wanted functions in this window, including a button to immediately Print the current selection.

Use these buttons to navigate through your previewed document. You can step through it, page-by-page, or jump to the start or end. |

Another way of quickly displaying any particular page is to use the graduated bar at the bottom of the window. Simply click the number of the page in which you are interested.

Print
provides three options so that you can control the range of material that is printed.
Note that selections refer to items that are currently highlighted in Navigator Outline.
|
|
Print Selected prints whatever is selected (highlighted) in Outline. Print Same Level works as described above in Print Preview. Print All specifies that all pages of the document are printed. |
NoteBook pages (the ones containing NoteBook cells) are never printed, and normally appear as blank pages.
When you have made your selection, the print job is automatically spooled to the currently-selected Windows printer.

If you have a suitable driver installed, you can also create excellent, high-quality, *.pdf files. It is usually best to uncheck Print this header on the top of each page and Print this footer on the bottom of each page in Print Page Setup when making PDF files.
An excellent and totally-free driver can be downloaded from:
