Item Header

Whenever a new Note, Notebook, and so on is inserted into the Outline, its item name is copied to the Item Header bar.

The Note Header area is displayed at the top of the Note canvas. (It uses the name Item Header for this Note.) It contains a few pre-defined fields into which you can enter information about the Note itself.

You can hide it completely by doing:

    1. Click View on the main menu.
    2. Select Layout View Options.
    3. Uncheck Show Document Header.

Usually, you probably want to leave the Note Header visible.

When the Note Header is visible, it can be expanded or rolled up. There is a small chevron button on in the top right corner of the Note Header for this.

Click to expand the Note Header.

Click to roll the Note Header up.

This example has entries in all the fields:

Notice that Auto is checked in the above example. This tells TexNotes Pro to get descriptive text from the first paragraph/s of the current Note, and display it in the Comments box. This is a useful feature when viewing Notebook pages. Extracted text is displayed in a cell in the Notebooks pages, so you can easily identify particular Notes.

The Item Header panel also lets you add additional information, if you need to. This is typically used for information that doesn't need to be immediately visible. When pasting text from a browser, for example, it may be very useful to keep a record of the source, the date the information was captured, the author of the original article, and so on, without cluttering the text.
