Basic Text Formatting

All the formatting buttons are available on the toolbars. Move the pointer over the buttons to see the Tooltips if you do not recognize their functions.

You can reduce the font size of selected text by using the font size drop-down. (It's next to the font face selection box.) Select a size by clicking the drop-down arrow, or type the size manually into the font size field. You can, of course, reduce the size even further down to 6 point something like this.

In the same way, you can Increase the font size of any text selected. This is not limited to words and paragraphs. You can even change the size of individual characters.
(Note that this can also introduce changes in vertical line spacing, as illustrated by this paragraph. Vertical space adjustment is sometimes called leading in the printing world.)

Use different font sizes, bold. italic, underlined overline and strike through in the same line, or  in different paragraphs.

Apply Colours to text.

You can highlight certain parts of the text in various ways.

You can use any of the fonts installed on your system.

Times new roman  Times new roman  Times new roman

Verdana  Verdana  Verdana  Verdana  Verdana

The above was created by just using the main text formatting buttons on the Format toolbars.

Here are some examples of the additional text formatting tools in use.
To access these tools, click the first button on the Formatting toolbar .

This displays the Fonts dialog box, where you choose the font and various attributes.

The Layout tab lets you change the character spacing like this or like this. You can also change the character offset to create superscripts like this e=mc2 , or subscripts  down  and scale the fonts horizontally. The sample preview area shows the effect of changing these attributes before you commit to them by clicking OK.

Horizontal Lines

Use lines in various thicknesses and colors to separate one part of a Note

from another.

These Horizontal Lines are called rules in the typographic world. The Glossary explains many of the typographic terms used in this section and in the dialog boxes.

In TexNotes Pro you can use Horizontal Line from the Insert menu to quickly place lines of various thicknesses:

When you've inserted a line, the easiest way to change its color is to position the cursor at either end of the line, right-click, and select Properties of Current Item.

Sometimes Quick Bullets (Insert menu) can be very handy.
