Adding More Items to Outline Tree View

As well as adding Notebooks and Notes to the tree in Outline, you can also directly add images, drawings and paintings, in the same way as you add Notes. This is in addition to inserting pictures into Notes. The only difference is what you can do in the canvas area of each item.

Notes can contain embedded pictures, paintings, and drawings, but there are times when you want an item to be just a picture, or a drawing, or a custom painting.

When you insert a picture, the entire canvas (the right-hand window normally used for entering text) is taken over by the image. The canvas then becomes a viewer panel.

When you insert a drawing, you can only carry out drawing tasks; you can't paint, or enter text as in Note items.

When you insert a painting, you can only use painting tools; you can't draw, or enter text.

Inserting Images

Inserting images into Outline tree view is very useful in certain circumstances. For example, you might have written a Note about the painter Picasso. It's a quite a long Note, and already contains various images to enhance your text. But you need to add a set of example paintings by Picasso.

By inserting the example paintings under the Picasso note, each image appears as an individual item. You can name them appropriately in Outline for quick identification and easy access by your readers.

One image is added under this Note, as an example.

Adding Pictures, Paintings, and Drawings

This section demonstrates how to add three types of graphic items into the Outline.

Here's an example Outline with three Notes underneath Notebook 1.

To add a Picture to Note 1, do one of the following:

The new picture item is added to the Outline:

Follow the same procedure to add a Painting or a Drawing item to the Outline. When the Picture item is selected, click the Add Painting toolbar button to add an item at the same level (a sibling item).

For a drawing, use the Add Drawing toolbar button .

Please refer to the TexNotes Pro Help system for more details about drawings and paintings.

Pictures (images which you have inserted from disk files) are not editable inside TexNotes Pro.
