The do-Organizer Scribe Notes - Navigator

The Main operational and organizational functions of Scribe are situated in and around the Scribe Navigator. This is where you will be entering, editing and organizing all your Notebooks and Notes. Yes, you can add as many sub Notebooks or sub Notes as you want.

How do I add Notebooks or Notes to the Navigator?

Simple, I select a Notebook for example "Appointment Notes". Then I have more than one way to add a Note. I can select from the Navigator tool-bar's first icon or right-click on the Navigator panel and select "Add Sub Note". The same applies to adding Notebooks including Sub Notebooks and Sub Notes. After clicking on "Add Sub Note" I see my Note is inserted under the "Appointment Notes" Notebook as the last item. It's ready for me to change its name to a more appropriate one for my needs.

You can change the name of the Note or Notebook at any time by either a slow double-click or using the "Rename Navigator Item" shortcut icon on the Navigator tool-bar.

For advanced users, there are options in Settings to automatically format the default name of new Navigator items.

What's the purpose of having Notebooks and Notes?

How do the Sub Notebooks and Notes measure up to my needs?

The Notebooks and Notes concept is used as a real life metaphor. Their purpose is as a purely visual reference point. You may think it's a bit like books and their chapters, but keep in mind that it doesn't exactly simulate a real life book. In real life you cannot add another book within a book chapter, but in Scribe you can add as many books within books and even within Notes as you like. Here you have full flexibility to organize your information the way it suits you.

When you add a Notebook or Note it will be inserted at the same level as your highlighted Notebook or Note in the Navigator. However, if you choose to add a Sub Notebook or Note it will be inserted under (or inside) the selected Notebook or Note - as a child.

While Notes hold all the data you enter in them, Notebooks hold a Navigator view of your notes (Note "Boxes" or Note "Blocks") within them. For example, if you click on the "Rough Guide to do-Organizer" Notebook, you will see in this area the Navigator view of all the first level Notes and Notebooks in the guide.

Besides adding your Notebooks and Notes with ease in the Navigator, you are also able to customize Notebooks and Notes according to your preferences such as changing Notebook and Notes icons, font style, face, color, and attaching a flag marker. You can access the customization command through Navigator right-click menu and selecting "Properties" command.
