Flag-Markers

Flag Markers are special markers placed on certain database records, such as on a Scribe Note or a Contact. You can assign a flag marker to Scribe Notes, Appointments, Tasks, Contacts, Planners, Mindscape Blocks and Journals. Not forgetting the folders in the Navigator.

Below are a few examples of flag-markers in action:

Markers are useful in identifying the status of the record. eg: you could have a flag marker called "to-do" which you use for assigning to a Note, or you could assign a flag marker to a contact called "Follow up", identifying that the contact needs attention.

You can also make use of flag markers as a means of filtering records. For example, flag marked items can be listed on your Home Page. In a similar way you can use flag markers to group your tasks as below:

As you can see on this screen capture, I have grouped my tasks by flag marker. I had two items with the flag-marker "hot" and one for the flag-marker "urgent". This facility can be very useful for those who need to deal with lots of tasks on a daily basis. Currently, you can only use one level of grouping for your tasks. I have been told multi-level grouping will be available in future versions of do-Organizer.

Adding a flag-marker to a record and navigator tree item:

There are a few different ways to access flag-markers. For example, if you are adding a flag marker to a task you can either choose from the task section tool-bar "Flag Selected Task" drop-down [1] or launch the task edit details window [2] and add/change the flag of the selected task. In the do-Mailer section there is no edit window for existing (received) emails. Therefore, all flagging is done via the mail list tool-bar drop-down similar to the tasks drop-down.

On the other hand if you want to add a flag-marker to Navigator items such as folders, notes etc. you choose from the Navigator right-click menu either "Flag Selected Item" or click on the "Properties" command on the same right-click menu to launch the "Folder Item Properties" window [3] and select a flag-marker.

Managing Flag Markers:

You can add, remove or edit the flag marker names and icons. You are not restricted to only using the flag markers icons supplied with do-Organizer. You can add your own or even change the default ones completely. When flagging an item, menus and shortcuts enabling you to access the flag-markers are available as described above, there is also a command on the top "Edit Flag Markers". Select "Edit Flag Markers" to launch the "Flag Markers" window below. This is where you  would be organizing and editing your flag-markers. You may also access the Flag-Markers editor window from the Main Menu "Tools/Edit Flag Markers".

Click on the "Add" icon to add a new flag marker. Once you click on the "Add" button you'll see the Icon Library window is opened. Choose an appropriate icon from the library and click OK. Now, you should see the icon inserted into your flag-marker window list as the last item, ready to name and set its order as needed.

If you want to use the supplied icons, then you need to add your custom icons to the Icon Library first.

Edit - Allows you to rename the flag marker with your own text. This must be unique and can't be blank.

Delete - Delete the flag marker. Be careful if you have records in your database that have been flagged with the marker you are deleting.

Move Up - Moves the flag marker up in the list, this affects the combo boxes and menu lists where the flags are displayed.

Move Down - Moves the flag marker down in the list, this affects the combo boxes and menu lists where the flags are displayed.

Icon - Launches the Icon Library to change the icon of the selected flag
