Backup
The data you store in do-Organizer is saved to a special database file on your hard disk. The location of this file can be wherever you choose it to be. By default it is stored in a sub folder under the location you installed do-Organizer. When do-Organizer is first installed, it sets up some default folders, as follows.
Default storage folder for databases:
c:\Program Files\GemX\doOrganizer\Data Files
It is advisable to have a common data folder that all work is saved to if you are not using the do-Organizer default Data folder. This becomes handy, especially when you make a backup of the main folder without having to hunt around your disk trying to locate other files.

Before attempting to backup currently open database file, you need to close it first. Database files that are in use (open database files) can not be backed up.
To launch the do-Organizer Backup tool, go to Main menu/Tools/"Backup Files" command.

The do-Organizer backup system can create two types of archive:
1. Easy Restore Executable
This is a "self-extracting" application file, just like do-Organizer, but works like a mini-application. All your data is stored together with a special extraction program so you don't need any third party software to get the data out of the archive. This is why you may wish to consider using the password protection options.
To restore data from this type of archive, you just use the File Explorer and "run" the archive like a normal application.
2. Zip Archive
This file format is compatible with all Zip archiving software such as WinZip. Windows has now started to take notice of this format and even provides features for reading Zip files directly. The file extension is ".zip".
When you make a backup archive, the "Current Backup Number" will increment automatically to the maximum number specified and then goes back to 1 again. The resulting filename(s) will be created comprising of the "Archive Filename Prefix" and the backup number. This enables you to have different versions each time you make a backup.
Note: You can only choose folders (not individual files) to include in the archive. The sub-folders of a folder will automatically be included in the archive.
