Annotations

Annotations are special markers inside the content of a note. You can insert an annotation next to a piece of text that you want to give extra reference to.

For example:

You may enter some text in your note "GemX Web Site". You could then add an annotation next to the text and the annotation could contain contact details and a description. Or even an image to go with it.

The annotation marker is a little button that "pops up" a small edit window for you to type in any amount of content you wish. To close the popup window, click on the annotation button marker again, or click on the small X on the right corner of the annotation window.

You will find the annotation window is quite useful as it can be moved easily around the screen, anywhere, like a normal window - and you can even minimize TexNotes and have the annotation window still active on the screen. Text and content can be dragged in and out of the Annotation edit window so this is an ideal tool for collecting context sensitive information from a web browser.

To Add an Annotation
Place the edit cursor in the note where you want the annotation to be inserted, then do one of the following:
On the Notes toolbar, click on the icon , or,
On the main menu, select "Insert/Insert Annotation"

Note: Annotations can only be created for TexNotes files. If you export your note as a plain text file, then the annotations will not be exported.

To Open, Edit and Close an Annotation
Left click on the annotation marker and the Annotation window will display, ready for editing the text. There are two edit areas in the Annotation window. The top edit area is the Title of the Annotation, eg: "Extra Contact Details". The remaining area is the actual content which can be edited like a note.

Left click on the annotation marker again to close the little window.
When you navigate to a different note in the Outline, the annotation marker will automatically close.

To Delete an Annotation
Annotations are just normal items in the text. You can select and delete them like normal text with the Delete key or the Backspace key.

To Change The Appearance of an Annotation
To change the annotation marker icon, right click on the desired annotation marker and select from the context menu which icon image you wish to use.
