Anchors

Anchors are special invisible markers inside a Note document. You can define an anchor on any separate paragraph. They are indicated by a small red ships anchor [ ] on the left hand side of the editor canvas area. They have the advantage to enable you to jump straight to that marker. Therefore, if you have a large note, you can set anchors for the first page and then every subsequent section. A bit like a contents list.

You can turn the anchors display on and off by selecting from the main menu "View/Show Anchors in Editor".

Use the Anchors Property Panel to show all the Anchors, you can then add, edit or delete them using this list.

To Add an Anchor
There are a few ways to create anchors inside a Note. To add an anchor inside a note, first move your cursor to the paragraph you want to mark, then do one of the following:
On the Anchors Toolbar, click on the icon "Insert an Anchor", or,
On the main menu, select "Insert/Insert Anchor"

Note: Anchors can only be created for TexNotes files. If you export your note as a plain text file, then the anchors will be removed. Anchors are retained in HTML.

To Rename an Anchor
First select the anchor you want to rename, from the Anchors List, then do one of the following:
On the Anchors List, Right click and choose "Rename Anchor".
On the Anchors toolbar, click on the icon: Rename
Press F2 on your keyboard (Only if the Anchors list is focused).

You may then edit the name, then press Enter to confirm the change or press Escape to abort the new name.

To Delete an Anchor
When you delete any paragraph that has an anchor attached to it, the anchor will also be removed. Similarly, if you copy/paste a paragraph with anchors, then the anchors will also be pasted, unless you paste as plain text.

To remove an anchor without removing the text of the paragraph, do one of the following:
On the Anchors List content menu, select "Insert/Remove selected Anchor", or
Click on the Anchors Toolbar icon: Delete Anchor

To Jump to an Anchor
First select the Anchor you want to go to, from the Anchors List, then do one of the following:
On the Anchors List, Right click and choose "Go to selected Anchor",or
On the Anchors toolbar, click on the icon Go To Anchor or
On the Anchors List, Double-Click on the anchor name

You will notice the document will adjust it's display so the Anchor marker is the first line displayed.

Note: The edit cursor will not move directly to the checkpoint, only the document display. This is so you can edit a paragraph then jump to a reference section and then carry on typing where you left off.
