Frequently Asked Questions of do-Organizer.

How do I install do-Organizer after I've downloaded it?

A: To install do-Organizer, please follow the steps below:

  • Run Windows File Explorer and go to the folder where you saved your downloaded do-Organizer file to.
  • Double click on the application exe file named, doOrg22.exe,
  • Follow the on screen instructions.

The installation program will create a folder according to your specification or will install to the default "Program files" folder. It will also create a program group in your Start menu, and place the application icon on your desktop so you can easily access do-Organizer.

Do I need to reboot my computer after installing do-Organizer?

A: You don't need to reboot your computer after installing do-Organizer. It doesn't require it.

Can I move the do-Organizer application folder, after installation, to a different location?

A: No, it is not a good idea to move any applications folder from it's installed place. If you move the do-Organizer folder manually then the "Add/Remove programs" list in your control panel is not updated.

How do I Uninstall do-Organizer?

A: To uninstall do-Organizer please follow the steps below:

  • Click on the START button on your Windows Taskbar.
  • Select the SETTINGS option.
  • Select the CONTROL PANEL.
  • When the control panel has opened, double click on Add/Remove Programs.

In the listing of programs that can be uninstalled, you will find an item in the listing for "do-Organizer". Select it.

Click on the Add/Remove button and follow the instructions on screen.

Do I need to reboot my computer after uninstalling do-Organizer?

A: You don't need to reboot your computer after uninstalling do-Organizer. It doesn't require it.

When I uninstall do-Organizer, what happens to my data file that I created with do-Organizer?

A: When you have completed the uninstall operation it will only uninstall the do-Organizer application. Any database files you created will be left intact for you to consider in case you may need to use them again. Database files contain your data you have created. If you do not need them just locate the folder where you saved your do-Organizer files and delete them manually.

Does do-Organizer clean up the Registry after uninstalling?

A: Yes. You will find that do-Organizer will uninstall only the do-Organizer registry entries that hold preferences and do-Organizer related settings and will leave other entries intact.

Do I need to uninstall a previous version of do-Organizer before installing another?

A: We strongly advise you to first Uninstall any previous versions of do-Organizer before installing the latest version. By uninstalling do-Organizer the uninstall process doesn't remove any of your data files that were created by yourself. It only removes the application related data from the folder as well as the registry entries.

Will do-Organizer run on Windows XP?

A: Yes. We experienced no problems running on our test versions of Windows XP Professional.

Will do-Organizer run on Linux?

A: No, not at the moment. It is a future thought.

Will do-Organizer run on Windows CE?

A: See below answer to PocketPC.

Will do-Organizer run on a Pocket PC or Palm Top?

A: do-Organizer won't run on these device but we are currently working on a Palm conduit and PocketPC linking for do-Organizer. We hope to release this facility later this year. This will be treated as a minor update, so current registered users of version 2.x will get these additional features free of charge.

Will do-Organizer run on Macintosh?

A: No. It is unlikely that it ever will.

Will do-Organizer run on BeOS?

A: No. It is unlikely that it ever will.

Exactly what operating system will do-Organizer run on?

A: do-Organizer will run on Window 2000 and XP.

Can I open older do-Organizer database files in the latest version?

A: The registered version can open any older versions. However, if you save the database under the latest version then you will not be able to open the database file in any older versions of do-Organizer.

Is do-Organizer network compatible?

A: You are able to open database files from across a network, there's file and record locking so the number of user connections is denoted by the licence type you've purchased. If you've purchased a 5 user Multi-User edition, then only a maximum of 5 users can open the same database at the same time. A single stand alone edition can only be used by 1 user at any one time.

Can I run more than one copy of do-Organizer at the same time?

A: No. do-Organizer was designed to run only as one process. Therefore you can only open one database at a time.

Does do-Organizer have any backup precautions to safe guard my data?

A: do-Organizer can create encrypted files saved to a backup location using the built-in encryption/decryption backup and restore facilities.

Is do-Organizer compatible with Microsoft Word?

A: To some degree, yes. do-Organizer will try to understand as much of the formatting as possible, however, Word has many features so not everything can be converted. Word DOC files and RTF can be imported into the Notes and Journal sections of do-Organizer.

do-Organizer comes with an American dictionary, how can I obtain dictionaries for other languages?

A: do-Organizer comes with an American dictionary and Roget's Thesaurus. If you require further dictionaries, they can be downloaded freely from:

To install any extra dictionaries, you just need to copy the downloaded dictionary to the folder where you installed do-Organizer to: eg. "C:\Program Files\do-Organizer". Run do-Organizer, then select from the Main menu Edit/Spell checker settings, click on Locate dictionaries and follow the instructions on screen.

What's the maximum amount of data that do-Organizer will hold?

A: It is practically unlimited. However, it is a good idea to keep the database size to less than 4 Gigabytes. 4GB gives you the storage for literally millions of records.

If I buy do-Organizer, what version upgrades do I get free?

A: If you buy version 3, then you will receive all minor version upgrades for version 3.x free of charge. This means you get 3.1 etc up to but not including 4.0.

I need a particular feature that do-Organizer doesn't have, can you include it?

A: If you need something but do-Organizer can't do it, then write in and let us know. If we can implement the idea and we think other users will also benefit, then it will be realized in a future update.

I purchased a full copy of do-Organizer and received a registration number XXXX. When I received notification from you that X.X was ready I downloaded it and am using it now, but can find no way to insert the registration number...

A: When you receive an e-mail from us indicating there is a new update version, or when you purchase, we give you a link in the e-mail of where to download the software from. Use this link that is in the e-mail, don't download the trial version from the web site. If you use Outlook Express, just right click the link in the e-mail and choose "Save Target As...". The Trial version cannot be made into a full version. You have to download the update or the full version from the information in the e-mail, then install it as normal.
